What is Eastside Community Sports?
Eastside Community Sports is a program that was created out of necessity after school budget cuts eliminated many of the middle school sports. Eastside Community Sports is a partnership program between the Mt. Hood YMCA and Gresham, Barlow, and Reynolds school districts that offers competitive Girls Volleyball, Boys Basketball, and Girls Basketball at each school. Students who want to play for their schools team need to register and tryout at their school. After tryouts the names of the students who have made the team will be posted at the school office after the last lunch. This league is competitive and playing time is not guaranteed. Eastside Communtiy Sports Leagues follow OSAA playing rules.

How to Register
Registration forms can be picked up at the schools office or from the Mt. Hood YMCA office located at 223 Buxton Ave. Troutdale, OR 97060. Registration forms are also available at all parent meetings.

Mandatory Parent Meetings
Parent meetings are set up at each school where parents will learn the expectations of the league, can ask questions about the league, register their child and make payment

Tryouts
Are held at every school. Players are judged by three separate people and each judge turns in a scoresheet. Players are given an average score and players with the top scores are selected to the team. On average teams consist of 10-13 players.

Practices
Every team has practice at their middle school, no need to travel far out of the way for practices. Teams practice twice per week.

Season
(7th and 8th Grade divisions)
Each season consists of ten regular season games. Each team will have 5 home games and 5 away games during their regular season play. Having home games allows parents, friends, and family members to come watch and cheer on the home team. Both 7th and 8th grade teams will play at the same location with the 7th grade game beginning at 6:00pm and the 8th grade game starting right after at 7:15. For example if Clear Creek middle school has a home game against Dexter McCarty 7th grade game would start at 6:00pm and 8th grade game start would start after that game in the same gym at 7:15.

 Year Ending Tournament
At the end of the regular season 7th and 8th grade teams (6th grade does not participate in tournaments) are seeded for a year ending tournament based on their regualar season final standings. Every team makes the tournament. A bracket is set up and a single elimination tournament called the Eastside Community Cup Championship is carried out to find a single champion for each division.
